Where do you get your crystals? (Specifically the aesthetic ass pyramid ones, im in love and i need them immediately)

I get a lot from @bekkathyst and some from a gem and mineral shop that’s in Kirkland (greater Seattle area) 💕

I’d highly recommend checking out bekkathyst’s shop, I’ve never been disappointed with any of the (MANY) things I’ve purchased from her and they’re always the best quality and reasonable prices!

Hi 💖 i’m new to the witch community on tumblr, and a baby one at that (i just turned 16). Do you have any tips or places to start? I have a lot of questions. Like where do you guys get all of the ingredients for everything you do? What can be substituted for what, or what just CAN’T be substituted? Finally, are there different types of witches, and do i have to pick a deity when i start? thanks so much!!

Hi! Welcome to the community 🙂 I actually have a FAQ series that I think you’ll find very helpful and it addresses a lot of the questions you asked.

I think I actually will include more on ingredients in part six, but here’s some brief info:

Herbs: Many, many, many of the herbs that I use are ones that are already in my kitchen for cooking. Always check to see what you have at home before going out to buy ingredients!

Some of the herbs/flowers you may not have in your spice rack are sometimes in teas, and occasionally they’re already put together in certain correspondences (sleepytime tea has things like chamomile, lavender, mint and is for soothing). I have definitely broken into my fair share of teabags for herbs I didn’t have in jars.

Crystals: You really do not NEED crystals for the craft. Want them? sure. Need them? nah.

If you were to get one, I’d recommend clear quartz. Top three for me would be clear quartz, amethyst, rose quartz – just because I use them the most. You can find it for a low price at some craft stores (look in the bead section, sometimes there’ll be whole crystals, crystal chips or crystal beads) or at gift shops (we have a thing in the states, I don’t know if they do it elsewhere, where there’s a giant box of tumbled crystals and you fill a sachet with them. Almost all of the colorful ones are dyed agate or dyed glass, but I have found genuine clear quartz, rose quartz and tiger’s eye in those boxes before.

Other tools: You likely have everything you need already in your home. Be creative and see what you can come up with! 🙂

Any ideas for things to do the night before to help make the next day go well?

Yeah! I do this quite a bit, especially when I’ve had a rough day. A lot of it is self care with intentions and magical correspondences:

Cleanse away the day:

  • Take a bath or shower. Focus on cleansing away the energies of the day. You could also wipe down with a washcloth, or do one of these in the morning instead.
  • Do some sage/smoke cleansing. Again, helping release the day.
  • Drink a glass of water. I’ve started drinking lemon water (I’ve noticed that I felt energetically cleansed and rejuvenated when I drink it). I also like doing this in the morning!

For your future (morning) self:

  • First off, do as much as you can to get ready for the day. Lie out your clothes, figure out your meal/food plan, get your bag ready to go, etc.
  • Make a nice cup of tea and whisper some magic into it. I like to do this with tea that helps me sleep better and set some intentions for the next day.
  • Pick a crystal with the correspondences that fit (or whatever crystal you want to use) and charge it with the energy that you would like the day to hold, then place it under your pillow.
  • Sometimes I’ll burn incense/bay leaves to brighten my mood and make me feel more relaxed, or place a couple of drops of EO on some lavender that I keep in a seal-able jar and leave the jar open near my bed (I minimize the amount of EO I use in my home because I have so many pets, but none of them sleep on my bed).
  • Really, most acts of self care will help you have a better/good next day, and I can almost always find some way to add magic to it.
  • There’s a lot of nice spells and magical things in this tag.

Hope this gave you some ideas! ❤
