Acorn Charms

So I took my own idea and tried out an acorn charm! I’m an empath, so I made this one to help me stay grounded when surrounded by people!!

Ingredients:

  • (1) acorn, any size – associated with success, luck, and wishes.
  • (1) drill with a small bit.
  • (1) Xacto knife.
  • Assorted gem chips and herbs associated with your intent – I used amethyst, tiger’s eye, quartz, citrine, and carnelian for gems; marjoram, mint leaf, and lemon grass for herb.
  • Glue.

Prep: Gently remove the cap from the acorn. Using a drill or knife, carefully hollow out the center of the acorn, aka the nut. Use an xacto knife or similar to scoop out the rest of the nut (as a discord friend informed me, this part of the acorn is soft and will rot over time, so make sure you get all of it!!!).

Stuff your now hollow acorn with your herb and gem chips while focusing on your intent. Allow the energy to flow for as long as you feel necessary. Apply your glue to the inside of the acorn’s cap and press it gently back onto the top. Imagine it “sealing” your intent inside. Leave the glue to dry.

Casting: Once dry, charge or activate the charm as you normally would. Done!

I’m excited to try out these charms this fall!!! In theory, they should be easy to make, concealable in travel alters, bags, pockets, or worn as jewelry, and safe to dispose of if you like to bury your charms in nature.

Feel free to use and let me know if they work out for you!!

LOVE THIS!!!!

What you mean to say: Karma Edition

spiritscraft:

What you said:

Most people when they say Karma*, do not mean “action.”  Karma is merely the first part of an understanding that actions have natural consequences. This term has no morality to it, just the cold hard law that if you act or don’t act, something will come of it as a natural consequence. New-agers use this term to mean all kinds of things, usually with the assumption that the reader is agreeing with their meaning. It would serve the community to be more specific because 1) there is no reason to use a fancy foreign word when actions has the same meaning and is more easily understood and 2) the various misapplied meanings used by new-agers are confusing and do not examine their underlying lack of reality.

What you meant to say:

A) Good things happen to good people and bad people get theirs in the end. This is demonstrably not true in this life, and so it forces into play an afterlife where such things are metted out.

B) People are reincarnated into various lives until they reach enlightenment. This belief centers around souls or a supreme power choosing for souls to continue to advance themselves and therefore choosing different kinds of lives in order to achieve that. If terrible things have happened to you, you or a supreme power chose that in order to grow your spiritual perfection. Along these lines you believe that if a predator molests a child, both the predator and the child chose to experience that or a supreme power chose for them to experience that.

C) If you are bad in this life, you will get a sucky position in the next life. This is a combo of the two above. It means the bad things happening to someone now or the good things happening to them, they earned them in a past life, that their current life’s actions only have a part to play.

D) I don’t act to defend myself or others because I leave it to an supreme being. If someone is really upset that someone has hurt them, they should leave it to divine action for their retribution or else you will have to face divine retribution for reacting.

E) Pop-witchcraft 3 fold law of return: If you cast a spell, whatever that spells is, will be rewarded or punished three times its intent.

F) Traditional Wicca 3 fold law of return: If you cast a spell, whatever that spell is will have an affect on all three levels: spiritual, mental and physical.

G) The Golden Rule: people will treat you how you treat them. If you are nice to them should be nice to you.

As you can see most of these are moral ideas. Whereas Karma means action, action has no moral meaning to it. The moral ideas between these ideas vary widely. So its worth being clear. I don’t buy any of these above ideas personally. Some Hindus and Buddhists do have a different concept that matches some of the ideas above, but they are not called Karma.

*“Karma (Sanskrit: कर्म[1] IPA: [ˈkarmə] ( listen)Pali: kamma) is the concept of “action” or “deed”, understood as that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect“ Wikipedia
