Hi! Welcome to the community š I actually have a FAQ series that I think youāll find very helpful and it addresses a lot of the questions you asked.
- Part one talks about spells, wards, sigils, cleansing, divination and more!
- Part two talks about grimoires, crystals, wands, altars and more!
- Part three talks about this vs. that for a lot of the common terms you hear!
- Part four talks about types of witches, deities and more!
- Part five is all about spellcasting!
- Part six is slowly in the works as more questions arise!
I think I actually will include more on ingredients in part six, but hereās some brief info:
Herbs: Many, many, many of the herbs that I use are ones that are already in my kitchen for cooking. Always check to see what you have at home before going out to buy ingredients!
Some of the herbs/flowers you may not have in your spice rack are sometimes in teas, and occasionally theyāre already put together in certain correspondences (sleepytime tea has things like chamomile, lavender, mint and is for soothing). I have definitely broken into my fair share of teabags for herbs I didnāt have in jars.Ā
Crystals: You really do not NEED crystals for the craft. Want them? sure. Need them? nah.Ā
If you were to get one, Iād recommend clear quartz. Top three for me would be clear quartz, amethyst, rose quartz – just because I use them the most. You can find it for a low price at some craft stores (look in the bead section, sometimes thereāll be whole crystals, crystal chips or crystal beads) or at gift shops (we have a thing in the states, I donāt know if they do it elsewhere, where thereās a giant box of tumbled crystals and you fill a sachet with them. Almost all of the colorful ones are dyed agate or dyed glass, but I have found genuine clear quartz, rose quartz and tigerās eye in those boxes before.Ā
Other tools: You likely have everything you need already in your home. Be creative and see what you can come up with! š
